It should come as no surprise that after fourteen consecutive years of driving revenue growth for Fortune 500 companies, Hugh would venture out on his own to start Blackstar Diversified Enterprises (BDE) in 2016.His next challenge would be to connect his penchant for top line growth with cost control discipline, otherwise the business wouldn\'t survive. As with everything else, Hugh took the challenge head on establishing detailed vendor selection criteria, a three-quotation requirement for all major expenses, insourcing, and an intense requirements review on projects that require custom products. To that end, Hugh’s commitment to BDE Risk Management even extends to developing a custom industrial review software solution enabling his team to accurately assess manufacturing risk for the products BDE sells.With this framework in tow, Hugh has grown BDE from a company in 2016 to a $2.5 million company in 2020.
