ABOUT HUGH DAWSON
I am a versatile and detail-oriented mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Waterloo, currently working in systems engineering at MDA. Through various co-op opportunities and student projects, I have developed a wide range of capabilities- I\'m well versed in mechanical design practices, having developed solutions for the healthcare, clean energy, and commercial drone industries- I have effectively used SolidWorks and AutoCAD to model original designs as well as existing products- I am adept with hands-on work as well, having experience in a machine shop (trained with mills and lathes) and with manufacturing electromechanical assemblies, mostly electrical wiring and gas tubing- I am also a capable programmer, both on my own initiative and through co-op experience. To date, I have experience with C/C++, C#, Matlab, Arduino software and hardware, WAGO software (in ST and LD languages) and hardware, and RobotC (a C-based language). I have a passion for aerospace and astronomy, namely satellite telescopes like Hubble, James Webb, and Kepler. I also enjoy theatre acting and playing sports, mostly hockey, lacrosse, football, and soccer.
