ABOUT ANDREW HUA

My journey into student affairs began at the University of California, Riverside, where I became actively involved in the campus community. As an undergraduate student leader, I discovered my passion for creating inclusive environments that empower students and staff to learn, lead, and grow as engaged citizens. Through my various roles, I developed skills in programming, administration, safety assessment, community building, and leadership development.After earning my B.A. in Sociology, I continued my studies at Michigan State University in the Student Affairs Administration master’s program. I was committed to applying my knowledge to promote diversity and inclusion in higher education, aiming to enhance student experiences and create an inclusive academic environment.I later earned a Doctorate in Education from the University of California, San Diego, and California State University, San Marcos, through their joint doctoral program in educational leadership. The insights and skills gained in this program are fundamental to my current work, where I focus on closing equity gaps and exploring innovative strategies to enhance the educational experience for all students.As a Certified Gallup CliftonStrengths Coach, I’m passionate about coaching individuals and teams to recognize and develop their unique strengths. I believe that focusing on strengths can unlock potential and drive greater success and fulfillment. In my coaching practice, I work with clients to help them identify their talents and use them to enhance both personal and professional growth.I am deeply committed to driving meaningful change in higher education, particularly in addressing the challenges faced by the Asian Pacific American community. Guided by inspiring mentors, I strive to make a positive impact for students, faculty, staff, and institutional stakeholders.Outside of my professional work, I enjoy photography, especially capturing nature, portraits, and professional headshots. Photography provides me with a creative outlet and a way to connect with others.
