ABOUT HUGH SECORD
Hugh Secord is a Human Resource Management and Labour Relations Consultant practicing throughout Canada. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Honours B.A. in Sociology/Economics) and York University (M.B.A- Finance). His experience spans over forty years in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations in virtually every industrial sector in Canada. He held several CHRO positions before entering the consulting field in 2005. Hugh has acted as chief spokesman in over one hundred thirty collective agreements and has been involved in resolving hundreds of grievances and other employment disputes. Hugh has proactively promoted alternative dispute resolution methods and his innovative approaches lead to one of the first evergreen contracts (“no-strike”) in the private sector. Hugh is the author of several books on Human Resource Management practices including “Implementing Best Practices in Human Resources Management”, “Best Practices – Strategic Human Resources Management”, “Communications Issues In Human Resources Management” and “Understanding Labour Relations’ Strategies”; and has written over two hundred fifty articles on human resources and labour relations topics. In addition he has taught Organizational Behaviour and Employment Law and has spoken on labour topics in various forums.
