About Howard Mosby
Healthcare ExperienceMosby has extensive healthcare experience in the areas of Senior Administration, Finance, Quality Management, Research, Graduate Medical Education, Medical and Clinical Ethics, Case Management, Social Services, and Patient Safety. During his twenty-nine year career at Grady Health System, Mosby has either built the system capacity and/or lead each one of these areas of responsibility.Currently, Mosby manages the physician contracting function with Grady’s academic partners. This relationship is the second largest expense budget line item exceeding $250M. The relationship with its academic partners covers over 1,100 physicians, 900 residents and fellows, and over 300 medical students. In addition, the provider onboarding and credentialing of physicians and APPs, and oversight of the academic portfolio of providers from Grady’s academic partners.Mosby also established the Grady Office of Research Administration. This office is responsible for the management of all research that is conducted on the Grady Health System campus. This office handles over 800 research protocols annually. As a competitive advantage, under Mosby’s leadership, Grady established its own Grady-based Research Department. This department works independently from Grady’s academic partners in so much as research is independently sought out from potential sponsors, approved by an independent IRB, and recruits (from our academic partners) principal investigators to lead such research efforts. Leadership ExperienceIn 2002, Mosby was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives. As a first, Mosby was given a leadership role as a freshman legislator in one of the important House Committees. He rose to Chair the DeKalb County Legislative Delegation, serve as a Chief Deputy Whip, Ranking Member on the House Ways and Means Committee, and served on the powerful House Rules Committee. Mosby left the Georgia General Assembly in 2018 and was elected to the newly formed Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority. The Authority is responsible for developing and overseeing the 13-county region transit plan. Currently Mosby serves as the Vice Chairman of that Authority. Mosby, is a Certified Public Accountant, serving as a board member of the Georgia Society of CPA’s. He also serves as Board Member and Treasurer of the Georgia Interfaith Public Policy Center non-profit, Board Member and Treasurer of the Health Education Advocacy and Learning, Inc. non-profit, advisory board member of the East Lake YMCA, and Vice Chair of the 1st Choice Credit Union.
