ABOUT HOWARD FRUMKIN
I\'m a physician and epidemiologist who\'s had the great good fortune to work in academia, government, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector. Until my retirement at the end of 2024 I was Senior Vice President at the Trust for Public Land, where I led a dream team at the Land and People Lab. Previously I was head of the \"Our Planet, Our Health\"(OPOH) program at the Wellcome Trust in London; Dean of the University of Washington School of Public Health (where I\'m now professor emeritus); Director of the National Center for Environmental Health and Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); and Professor and Chair of Environmental Health at Emory University\'s Rollins School of Public Health. Here’s what I’m up to these days:• The Nature Record (formerly the First National Nature Assessment), health chapter lead author• National Academy of Medicine, elected member (and Chair of the Committee on Roadmap for Transformative Action to Achieve Health for All at Net-Zero Emissions)• Editor, Environmental Health: From Global to Local (now going into its 4th edition)• Nature and Health Alliance, Board member• Medical Society Consortium on Climate & Health (George Mason U), Advisory Committee co-chair• Seattle Parks Foundation, Board member• Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, executive committee member• Planetary Health Alliance, Steering Committee• BMJ, North American Editorial Advisory Board, co-chair• Washington State Academy of Sciences, elected member• Yale Center for Climate Change and Health, Advisory Board• Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education (Columbia U), Advisory Council.and as much time as possible walking in the woods and riding my bike on the beautiful PNW island where I live!
