I have over 30 years of experience in contentious and non-contentious pensions law. I advise trustees, employers, members, trade unions, public bodies and financial institutions on a full range of significant and complex DB, DC, occupational, personal and state pension issues, including: strategic and day to day legal, compliance and governance issues; plain English scheme documentation and communications; establishing, merging, sectionalising and winding up schemes; bulk transfers; pensions aspects of corporate transactions, listings and privatisations; buy ins and buy outs; funding, investment, covenant, security, guarantees and other contingent assets; scheme changes and closures; RPI/CPI issues; dispute resolution including IDRP, Pensions Ombudsman and High Court claims; rectification and construction; liability management and de-risking projects; TUPE; public sector and protected pensions; equal treatment; moral hazard, employer debts and apportionments; projects involving the Pensions Regulator and the PPF; automatic enrolment, pension freedoms and master trusts.I have been chairman and secretary of the Pensions & Lifetime Savings Association Manchester group and been a committee member of the North West Association of Pension Lawyers.
