ABOUT HOSSEIN SARRAFZADEH

I have a PhD in Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence from the University of Wollongong University. I created the world\'s first facial expression recognition system and used it to create \"Easy with Eve\" lifelike agent in 2007.I\'m currently the Associate Dean of Research and Innovation at Old Dominion University. I was a University Distinguished Professor and the Director of the Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity at NC A&T State University. I was the Professor and Chair of Dept of Cybersecurity at St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, NY and the founder and Director of the Western NY Cybersecurity Center. I was the Professor and Director of the High Tech Transdisciplinary Research Network at Unitec Institute of Technology (Unitec) after 7 years as Head of Computer Science and Information Technology. I have extensive experience in research and innovation, leadership, teaching, development and administration of undergrad and graduate programs, and in supervision of PhD students. I also have extensive experience with the computing industry especially in the area of Security. I Chaired the Dept of Cybersecurity at St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, NY. I founded and lead the Western New York Cybersecurity Center. I created a student run SOC at St. Bonaventure based on prior experience in establishing student run SIEM SOCs and TSOCs.I was the Head of Computing and Information Technology at Unitec from 2009-16. I am the founder of the Center for Cybersecurity, Center for Computational Intelligence for Environmental Engineering, and the Unitec Smart Room. I have developed specialization in cybersecurity, IoT, BI, games and health software development to address the immediate and future needs of the industry. I have worked closely with numerous industry and international partners and have developed an innovation echo-system with my teams.My research interests are AI and ML, Cybersecurity, IoT, Affective and Intelligent Systems.I have created schools initiative, working with schools to demonstrate how exciting IT work is, through mobile programming and robotics. Mobile programming for girls and cybersecurity competitions. I have taught undergrad & graduate computing courses and have extensive experience in teaching and supervision of graduate students. I have taught students with a range of educational backgrounds, needs and aspirations. I have published 190 research papers, examined theses and reviewed papers, and research proposals. I am a regular keynote speaker.I am strongly committed to innovation in higher education.
