Experience

  1. Materials and Process Engineer

    McLaren Engineering

    Aug 2021 — Present · MI, US

Led the development of advanced polymeric liners for high-pressure gaseous systems, including hydrogen storage, with a focus on minimizing gas permeation and enhancing structural performance. Engineered fire-retardant and fire-barrier coatings for composite materials and investigated the impact of graphene and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) on the mechanical properties of thermoset and thermoplastic composites. Improved composite bonding through plasma surface treatments and optimized infusion methods for composite manufacturing. Spearheaded root cause analysis for leakage issues in Type IV hydrogen storage systems and developed embedded cooling systems to ensure thermal stability. Additionally, designed multi-layer thermoplastic liners capable of operating under extreme temperature conditions.• Engineered a hyper-elastic material for Type IV hydrogen storage systems, designed to perform reliably across a wide temperature range (-60°C to 140°C).• Developed polymer formulations with enhanced creep and fatigue resistance under extreme environmental conditions.• Optimized adhesion between polyamide and EVOH layers to prevent delamination in multilayer systems.• Designed and implemented a novel blistering test method to evaluate polymeric systems under cyclic loading.• Improved bonding performance between polyamide and epoxy systems by enhancing the surface energy of thematerials.• Increased the elongation at break of the polyamide system by 4× through targeted material modifications.• Provide material expertise in the selection of materials during development.• Confer with producers of materials such as metals and polymers during investigation and evaluation of materials.• Review product failure data to rule out or establish material and process causes.• Set-up, run, and report test results of evaluations run in the Material Lab.• Design and develop new product materials; DFMEA, prototypes, test protocols and evaluations
