As a senior staff member and program manager in the Environmental Affairs Department, my primary role is to assist the City’s mission towards revitalization. As such, I have been responsible for implementing and managing ambient air quality monitoring programs and numerous large-scale brownfield redevelopment and remediation contracts including capital projects, strategic property acquisitions, and the City-wide Commercial & Industrial Demolition and Environmental Due Diligence Program. The main goal of these assignments is accomplished through collaboration, partnerships, compliance assistance and mechanisms of enforcement. I have been actively collaborating with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) to address and resolve a wide variety of environmental challenges. In addition, I am a lead member of the Redevelopment of Urban Sites concept (REUS) committee, which consists of technical and management staff from the City Environmental Affairs, Detroit Brownfield Authority, City Law, Detroit Health Department, EGLE and USEPA, with responsibilities including waste minimization/ elimination by maximizing resources and collaborating with one another for technical expertise and support, thus advancing the City’s agenda. One of the primary roles of the \"REUS\" committee is to address current and future Brownfield sites, issues and initiatives related to environmental and economic redevelopment, and the mitigation of foreseeable risks due to adverse impacts from contaminated properties.
