About Andy Hooper

I love people. I dislike being bored. Luckily those two go together and there’s plenty to work on! Here are seven quick things about what I do and how I think about the world.1.) The best experiences involve people working together to make something excellent and unpredictable come to be. That mode has called to me my whole life across business environments, military service, family adventures, and engaging in sports. People have an unlimited capacity to accomplish great things together.2.) Over my career, I’ve had the opportunity to consult and coach high-level leaders and teams in ~80 companies, helping them become better performers together in pursuit of better results. Each experience added nuances to understanding how leaders and teams think, work, and deliver results in a world with more uncertainty than stability.3.) I joined the Marine Corps out of college because I thought it was the best and most direct way to help change the world. Everyone who travels that path learns different things. I learned the mindset of service, the need for humility, the value of unique, diverse contributions, and the amplified awesomeness of what a few well-trained, highly-connected leaders can get done when they’re acutely focused on the mission.4.) My travels have taken me to 35 countries on 6 continents and 48 US States (I still need to get to North and South Dakota, to answer that question). This is still insufficient to appreciate the full scope of global perspectives, but it’s a start. I would say I’ve seen more in common than different at the core of humanity.5.) I’ve come to believe that companies provide the best and fastest access to making positive change happen at scale. It comes down to the availability of investment and the implicit permission to innovate and evolve the world, all fueled by ambitious talent attracted to creating value and impact.6.) These days I get to work with senior leaders who are dedicated to further clarify and express their ambition through their company. These are leaders who have earned their scope of accountability and seek to leverage their role and what they’ve learned to drive new value and forward humanity.7.) My version of life’s fun and adventure: I love being married (have been more than half my life!), enjoy road and gravel cycling, crave hiking in the NH mountains, and delight in the world of global soccer.Ever forward.
