ABOUT HONGYOU LU
Hongyou Lu is an Technology Researcher in the Building and Industrial Applications (BIA) Department of the Building and Industrial Energy Systems (BIES) Division of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She primarily focuses on the energy and cost modeling of energy-intensive industries, such as cement and concrete, iron and steel, pulp and paper, and petrochemical sectors.Since joining Berkeley Lab in 2008, she has conducted techno-economic analysis of industrial waste heat potential in cement, steel, and glass sectors. Additionally, she has conducted energy-intensity benchmarking analyses in cement plants, identify energy-savings opportunities, and quantify cost-savings potential in other industrial facilities, such as iron and steel, cement, petrochemical, pulp and paper, alumina, and food processing facilities. Recently, she developed modeling tools to quantify the cost of iron and steel production technologies, analyzed the levelized cost of industrial heating from various heating technologies, and evaluated industrial transformative technologies in key industrial sectors, such as cement and concrete, iron and steel, pulp and paper, and ammonia. She is a U.S. Department of Energy Qualified Specialist of the Process Heating Assessment and Survey Tool.
