About Holly Hester-Reilly
I\'ve spent nearly two decades helping product teams build the right things — not just build things fast.As Group Product Manager for Observability Data Platforms at Datadog, I lead a product team supporting 500+ engineers, applying evidence-based strategy and continuous discovery practices to one of the most complex infrastructure platforms in the world.I founded Product Science Group in 2017 after a decade in the trenches as a PM at scaling startups and enterprises. Over the years, PSG built a body of work — training programs, frameworks, coaching methodology, and a podcast — focused on helping product managers and leaders do discovery well. I\'ve led products from zero to launch, from chaos to clarity, and from prototype to millions of users. I helped take a 40-year-old treasury management software company from tens of millions in revenue to a $1 billion acquisition. I helped Ergatta grow from a founder\'s idea to a successful exit. I built and scaled Shutterstock Editor — 10x usage growth in year one, 5 million users by year three. I bootstrapped PSG to $880K in revenue at 117% year-over-year growth before I knew it was time to shift focus and go in-house.That shift was intentional. I knew I needed to be in-house, building, and helping a company navigate the AI transformation from the inside. You can\'t teach what you haven\'t practiced. If AI is restructuring how products are conceived, built, and delivered — and it is — I wanted to be inside that, not commenting on it from the outside. What I believe: the teams that win the AI era won\'t be the ones that build the fastest. They\'ll be the ones that understand their users most deeply. Discovery skills — real ones, not performative ones — are the competitive advantage that compounds. AI makes them more powerful and more necessary at the same time.I also teach at NYU Stern, where I\'ve worked with 250+ MBA students on technical product management and AI and product management. The Product Science Podcast — 100+ conversations with founders and product leaders — remains a resource for anyone trying to figure out what actually works in product. If you\'re building something and trying to figure out if you\'re building the right thing — that\'s the conversation I\'m always up for.
