ABOUT HOLLY SURINS

I am a dynamic Occupational Therapist and leader whose diverse portfolio includes clinical experience combined with leadership, mentorship, program development and project management skills. I am a qualified Occupational Therapist who is registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and licensed to practice in Ontario. I graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. O.T.). Previously, I earned two Honours Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Biology from Carleton University. In addition, I have completed professional certificates in Leadership and Project Management from Western University. I am a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Through work and education, I have gained experience in a variety of practice settings including private practice, homecare, and hospital care (both acute and rehabilitation facilities). I have worked with children, adults and older adults to assess and treat various physical, psychosocial, environmental, and socioeconomic barriers to independent living. I look forward to working with my clients to enable their goals and to help them fully participate in their daily activities. In my career, I have taken on progressive leadership roles, working as a clinical team lead, regional occupational therapy team lead and clinic director. Notably, I have directly mentored 50+ clinicians/ students and I have delivered training and presentations to audiences of 100+ individuals on several occasions. I utilize a shared leadership style that builds trust, motivates others, and generates collaboration. My charismatic persona and natural proclivity for linking ideas and people allows me to inspire and relate to diverse audiences. I am proficient at communicating with, learning from, and working collaboratively with my colleagues, managers, and various stakeholders. I am passionate about several areas of OT practice and I am excited to continue developing my clinical and leadership skills. Currently, I am interested in continue to develop my skill set around workplace wellness and effective service delivery. I have a strong desire to become an advocate, scholar and trailblazer for the OT profession.
