ABOUT HOLLY STORKEL

My overall interest is in supporting people and places in creating effective programs to improve lives. My research program as a professor for 20+ years focused on understanding how children with developmental speech and language disorders learn the words and sounds of the language and designing and evaluating programs to promote success in school and life. As a university teacher and mentor, I applied principles of adult learning to design, implement, and evaluate curricula, classes, and workshops in a variety of formats (in person, hybrid, online, and multimedia). I have 11 years of experience as a higher education leader, collaborating with partners to design, launch, and evaluate academic curriculum and student success initiatives. As an NIH program officer, I collaborate with invested parties to identify opportunities for scientific advancement and then lead and evaluate initiatives to accelerate research in those areas. My implementation training includes advanced skills in (1) implementation science frameworks,(2) community partnerships,(3) strategies for individual-level change,(4) strategies for organizational-level change,(5) program evaluation frameworks and measures, and (6) translating evidence into policy. I’m passionate about leading high-impact, change initiatives that are science, data, and partner driven.
