As an Audio Engineer with Sofar Sounds, I help create intimate, high-quality live music experiences in unique and unconventional spaces. In Vancouver, this has included coffee shops, clothing stores, yoga studios, co-working spaces, and industrial buildings. Each show is different, requiring adaptability, problem-solving, and an efficient setup and pack-down process, often within tight timeframes.Sofar’s mission is to create space where music matters, and my role plays a key part in that: I set up and operate the PA system and mixing desk, soundcheck artists, and manage audio during performances. I also assist with staging elements like lighting and decor to help create a warm and focused listening environment where the audience is encouraged to fully engage with the music.
