My Fulbright work is on how to include Indigenous Knowledges and Sciences meaningfully in ocean, land, and onshore water management decisions. This work looks at management in Alaska, Nunavut, and Sapmi in Norway, Sweden, and Finland to find what is working across very different governance structures. I explore different cosmographies-relationships people have to the nature world (i.e. kinship, dominance, etc.) as well as drawing on pluralism and many ways of understanding the world for the best evidence for decision making. This work centers around continuity of Indigenous ways of life and cultures which protect our wellbeing, along with food sovereignty, ecological and human security, and planetary health.
