The Instrument Manager in a chemical plant is responsible for managing the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all instrumentation and control systems. This role ensures that instruments function reliably and accurately, supporting plant operations, process control, and safety systems.Key Responsibilities:Instrumentation & Control System Management:Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of plant instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.Ensure compliance with process control standards and industry best practices.Team Leadership & Training:Lead a team of instrumentation engineers and technicians.Develop training programs for plant personnel on instrumentation best practices and safety procedures.Project Management:Plan and execute instrumentation projects, including upgrades, expansions, and new installations.Coordinate with engineering, production, and procurement teams.Safety & Compliance:Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g, ISO, OSHA, IEC, ATEX) and company policies.Implement and maintain instrumentation-related safety procedures.Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement:Diagnose and resolve instrumentation failures and control system malfunctions.Improve process control systems for enhanced efficiency and productivity.Vendor & Contractor Management:Collaborate with suppliers and contractors for procurement, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation.Evaluate vendor performance and ensure quality standards.Documentation & Reporting:Maintain records of instrumentation maintenance, calibrations, and inspections.Prepare technical reports and compliance documentation.
