Managing projects of moderate complexity with supervision by a Supervising Project Manager/Group Leader. Managing the design of from 15 – 20 transportation improvement projects designed by consultants, from Project Review Committee (PRC) approval through construction contract award, as well as participating in progress meetings in construction and post construction conferences. Maintaining accurate information in the Highway Division’s project database (currently Project Info) and striving to advertise projects for construction in the programmed State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) year. Demonstrating an understanding of the Highway Division’s Project Development and Design Guide and the Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges. Providing effective liaison and follow‐up on various stages of review submittals involving Highway Design, Traffic, District Offices, Utilities, Environmental, Right of Way, and Cities/Towns to maintain the schedule. Performing cursory review of Plans, Specifications and Estimates for compliance to Highway Division standards. Conducting Design Public Hearings and Public Informational Meetings. For In-house projects, is directly responsible for the preparation of, or supervising and coordinating the activities of subordinates in the preparation of, conceptual designs, feasibility studies, roadway designs, and contract documents. Coordinates project development with other Sections, Divisions, and agencies. Provides training to less senior In-house staff. For District or Consultant designed projects, is responsible for reviewing or supervising the review of, designs and reports which may include roadway geometry, traffic analysis, environmental documents, and contract documents including Preliminary Contract Estimates, Earth Work Sheets, Detail Sheets, Special Provisions, and Financial Award Sheets for advertising or award of a contract. Reviews Payment Voucher submittals and supporting documentation prior to approval.
