ABOUT HISHAM ABDELRAHMAN

I hold dual appointments, an Assistant Professor of Marine Biology, at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, USA (since August 2025) and an Assistant Professor of Aquaculture Hygiene in the Department of Veterinary Hygiene and Management, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt (FVMCU; on sabbatical). My academic training includes a Ph.D. in Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Sciences (2016) with a Ph.D. minor in statistics and a Master’s in Probability and Statistics (2015) from AU, and Bachelor\'s in Veterinary Medical Sciences and Master’s degrees in Aquaculture Water Quality from the FVMCU. The integration of my degrees enabled me to be a researcher who is very passionate about aquaculture, epidemiology, statistical analysis, and teaching. For more than 17 years, I have been conducting a wide range of aquaculture- and fisheries-related research projects as well as research projects on different terrestrial animal species (dogs, cats, donkeys, goats, rabbits, buffalo). My aquatic research involved lab and fieldwork; aquaculture, fisheries, aquatic physiology, aquatic toxicology, and conservation ecology; crustacean, mollusks, and fish; and freshwater and marine organisms. I have a wide range of lab skills such as chemical analysis, biochemistry/physiological assays, and microbiological and molecular techniques.
