My journey with investments began when I started assisting my father with his investing activities. I remember being intrigued by the annual reports of MNCs with their fancy covers and colourfully illustrative pages. As I watched and learned from him the nuances of stock markets and attended various shareholder meetings my interest deepened. I began to dig deeper to understand how stock markets work and why stock prices fluctuate. After graduating from Mithibai College in Mumbai, I completed my post-graduation in Management Accountancy from The Institute of Cost Accountants of India. I got an opportunity to learn stock picking & research skills under the guidance of leading stockbroker K.R. Choksey, one of the forefathers of India’s capital markets, and worked at Prime Securities after that. This was where I cut my teeth and developed my philosophy of a sustainable, long-term research-based investment, which is what powers Alchemy Capital Management’s investment philosophy today. It is a philosophy that is time-tested and deeply shared by my mentors/co-founders; the Late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Lashit Sanghvi, and Ashwin Kedia. Each of my partners further added their wisdom and dimensions to my investment philosophy. With over 30 years of experience in equity market investing I want to share my knowledge, experiences and expertise with other individuals, institutions, and organizations to help them realize the full potential of compounding and enormous wealth creation that investing and markets have to offer. I am currently leading one of India’s pioneers in portfolio and asset management services and have been associated with Alchemy Capital Management since I manage and advise funds of approximately USD 1 billion (as on September 30, 2023) across domestic and offshore institutional mandates for Alchemy.
