ABOUT HILDAH JUMA

I am an executive leader with over 15 years of experience advancing people, culture, governance, and social impact across nonprofit, social enterprise, and complex stakeholder environments. My work sits at the intersection of board governance, organizational effectiveness, and people strategy, with a consistent focus on building institutions that are accountable, resilient, and purpose-driven.I have led organizations and initiatives through periods of growth, transition, and systems change, partnering closely with boards, executive teams, funders, and community stakeholders. My expertise includes board and committee governance, executive support, organizational design, people and culture strategy, policy and compliance frameworks, and the delivery of programs with measurable community impact.Previously, as Executive Director of the Black Talent Initiative, I led strategy, partnerships, governance, and organizational operations to advance equitable access to leadership, career development, and economic opportunity. I currently advise boards and senior leaders through Kijani Consulting, supporting governance resets, board onboarding, leadership development, and organizational strengthening.I am known for my ability to translate values into strategy, align people and governance systems with mission, and lead with clarity in complex, highly relational environments. My leadership approach is grounded, systems-oriented, and deeply people-centred, with a strong bias toward execution, accountability, and long-term impact.
