About Hilay Mehta
I’m currently pursuing my Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Southern California (USC) and hold a Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science & Engineering with a Minor in Data Science from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT). Throughout my academic and professional journey, I’ve gained hands-on experience through internships at Bosch and Deloitte, as well as fast-paced startups like Kintsugi Global Inc. and Biomed. My work has spanned across: LLMs & NLP: Prompt engineering, fine-tuning models, building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications, and evaluating frontier models like OpenAI GPT-4, LLaMa 3, and Claude 3 Haiku. Software Development: Deploying full-stack LLM-powered applications on AWS. Proficient in Django and Node.js for backend development and experienced with React for building dynamic front-end interfaces. Data Engineering & Analytics: Building scalable ETL pipelines for supply chain optimization at Bosch, and performing HR text analytics to derive actionable insights. Research & Innovation: Developed projects like TraitGPT and invented two novel activation functions — both currently in preprint and in progress for journal publication. I’m passionate, detail-oriented, and thrive in collaborative environments where I can learn, take initiative, and contribute to building meaningful products. I bring strong communication skills, a learner’s mindset, and a deep commitment to high-quality outcomes. I’m actively seeking full-time opportunities in Data Science, Analytics, Machine Learning, AI/ML Engineering, or Backend Engineering starting May 2025.
