Based on my New York Times Opinion article,\"It\'s Not Always Depression, Sometimes It\'s Shame,\" Random House is publishing my book,\"It\'s Not Always Depression.\" The book will expand upon the concepts I introduced in the article: core emotions (sadness, anger, fear, joy), inhibitory emotions (shame, anxiety, guilt) and the defenses we use to avoid emotional pain. Additionally, the book illuminates through stories that emotions are felt physically. These physical sensations and their corresponding emotions must be addressed in order to heal wounds from childhood and other traumatic wounds. In general, the book is about recovering one\'s true self with the vitality and peace that accompanies it by definition.
