With over 20 years of working for independent mortgage bankers, I saw my fair share of the mortgage industry. I experienced several operational and back-office roles, including processing, closing, funding, quality control, loan suspense, compliance and pricing. By immersing myself into those positions, I was able to walk away from each one with more knowledge than before, which helped me to better see the big picture and understand how all parts make up the whole. In the more recent years, I shifted my focus to banking compliance, specifically fair and responsible lending. All mortgage and banking professionals know that the financial industry is constantly under regulatory fire while technology continues to evolve. Data and model analyses have become integral components of my current role, and the focus on AI in the industry has made my job more relevant than ever. There is always something new to learn, and there is always risk to mitigate. Over the years I have learned to pivot and flex, and I have been lucky enough to be able to dive into the weeds, which has helped me become a better resource and regulatory advisor. I am dedicated to developing and maintaining a culture of compliance within the workplace, and to get everyone on board with fair, equal, and responsible lending. My door is always open to new opportunities.to educate, to learn, and to ensure equal access to credit while protecting the business. With persistence and patience (and maybe some algorithms), it can be done!
