Simar Anand maintains a broad corporate/commercial practice. He regularly advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, private placements and debt and equity financings, as well as private equity and venture capital fund formation. He also advises on formation, governance, structure and financing issues for early-stage companies with a focus on emerging technologies and innovation, particularly in the Agtech and Foodtech sectors. Simar was a member of Fasken\'s SEED program, the Asia Pacific Practice Group and was actively involved in leading Fasken\'s India Region initiatives. In the summer of 2016, Simar was seconded to Extreme Venture Partners, one of Canada\'s leading venture capital firms. Prior to Fasken, Simar attended the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law and was the valedictorian of his graduating class. At Windsor Law, Simar was involved with the Bring in the Bystander Initiative™ where he facilitated workshops on sexual assault prevention in school and the workplace. Simar also has a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from McGill University. While pursuing his business degree, Simar managed and expanded the family-owned restaurant, Resto Darbar, which has ranked in the Top 20 Restaurants of Montreal since he took on the role. During this time, he also worked as a foreign investment analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce and for a corporate law boutique in Montreal.
