About Hermie Smit
Hermie grew up in South Africa, moved to the US in Nov. and started working for Cityteam in 2001 where he leads CityTeam Programs Expansion & Partnerships that serves low-income families with basic necessities and enable them to lasting solutions. Hermie dedicated his life to developing, equipping & replicating teams and partnerships to serve the poor with the loving compassion of Christ and create on-ramps to empower holistic transformation. By the grace of God, this work has not only deeply impacted tens of thousands of Bay Area residents, but has gone viral and spawned over new Discovery Bible Groups/Churches in over 15 different countries during 20••••18 and still growing.Through the systemization of their operation and effectively partnering with organizations like Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Alameda County Community Food Bank, local churches, companies such as SAP Sharks & Walmart, and hundreds of volunteers, CityTeam in the Neighborhood replicated their Mobile Pantry Program from 25 to 43 different locations in Santa Clara, San Mateo, & Alameda Counties that delivered over 4 million meals in FY21.Hermie is married to Linda, a Bay Area native, for more than 20 years and they have a 7-year-old son Daniel. Hermie has a real adventurous spirit and enjoys the outdoors on his bicycle or wilderness camping in their rooftop tent. Hermie is a gifted leader with a strong work ethic and high relational intelligence. He has demonstrated expertise in Collaboration & Team Building, Coaching & Leadership Development, Public Speaking, Church Consulting, Conflict Resolution, and Fundraising.
