A Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) was established for NAVSTA Newport in 1996, to establish community awareness, public participation information exchange, and stakeholder involvement in the Navy’s Environmental Restoration Program (ERP). The RAB membership includes community members and government officials representing US Navy, Naval Facilities Command, and USEPA and Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM). This partnership enables the community to be engaged with as well as able to monitor the remediation plans associated with sites associated with NAVSTA Newport.
