ABOUT HENRY WILKINSON

I’m a Chartered Fire Engineer with two decades of experience in fire engineering, the last ten being as a director. In 2025 I co-founded Sedrow Fire Engineering.My work on residential buildings includes private rented sector (PRS) and student residential, and a number of apartment buildings exceeding 40 storeys. Recently, my residential work has extended to oversight of Fire Risk Assessments for External Walls (FRAEW) and issuing of signed EWS1 certificates. Since the Grenfell Tower fire and the resulting changes in regulations and legislation, I’ve placed additional focus on keeping himself and colleagues fully up-to-date with all regulatory developments. I have particular expertise in shopping centres, dealing with complex evacuation and smoke modelling challenges. I’ve been heavily involved in the ongoing development of many of the largest shopping centres across the UK, including the Trafford Centre, Derbion, and the Metrocentre.I’ve overseen the fire strategy for developments involving multiple large office buildings, such as the Wellington Place development in Leeds and NOMA in Manchester. In education I’ve worked on numerous college and university buildings, as well as primary and secondary schools. Other sectors where I have significant experience include hotels, industrial and warehouse buildings, leisure, healthcare, transport, and large sporting and events arenas.
