About Henry Talavera

My choice to become a lawyer is deeply ingrained in my experiences based on my becoming a U.S. citizen as a teen. I emphasize the importance of offering experience, dedication, empathy, & equality to everyone. I’ve used this philosophy to be the best benefits lawyer that I can be. I also feel very strongly about giving back & supporting not only my clients & others in the field but also my team. In addition to my client work, I also focus on impacting local, state, & national communities, with the goal of trying to lead people I encounter on the best path forward. Examples of this include influencing changes to government regulations including those published by the IRS, DOL, & PBGC. My team & I have experience in all areas of state & federal employee benefits law including but not limited to:* Designing & implementing executive compensation & employment agreements, including equity compensation & deferred compensation agreements for partnerships.* Counseling clients with respect to federal health care & related laws impacting employers\' medical plans, including but not limited to, privacy laws & the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act.* Negotiating employment & severance agreements for high level executives & employers.* Conducting due diligence & negotiating representations & warranties & covenants with respect to employee benefits & M&A.* Advising on litigation matters related to employee health benefits, including advising on class-action lawsuits related to plan investments.* Representing clients before the IRS, DOL, & PBGC with respect to employee benefit plan audits & voluntary correction procedure filings.ACCOMPLISHMENTS Recent awards that I’ve received:* Ranked in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation (DFW), 20••••23* Selected for inclusion Best Lawyers in Dallas, D magazine, 20••••23* Selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America for Employee Benefits Law, 20••••22* Named “Lawyer of the Year” by the Best Lawyers in America for Employee Benefits Law in DFW, 2022* Lifetime Achievement Award, TX Lawyer 2021* Wharton Portfolio Concepts and Management Course Completion* Named Outstanding Legal Advocate, D CEO’s 2018 Latino Business Awards, 2018You can find further info on articles that I’ve published and/or contributed to at: Want to learn more about who I am?
