ABOUT HENRY SMITH
Henry is an ecologist with over 10 years’ experience in environmental consultancy. He has built up considerable project management, EIA, HRA and BNG experience working on the strategic planning and delivery of a wide variety of developments, primarily for linear and energy schemes (including for Development Consent Orders). Henry is responsible for the line management of staff and helps with recruitment and business development at Arcadis. Henry has a sound understanding of the processes involved in business management, with a particular strength in financial and budget management for project work (managing multi-disciplinary projects worth over £1 million). He has an excellent knowledge of current planning policy and legislation and routinely provides specialist advice to a diverse range of both internal and external clients. Henry takes an active role in stakeholder consultation and negotiation with both statutory conservation bodies and NGOs. His work extends beyond the planning stage, proving on-going advice to clients, discharging planning conditions and undertaking the role of Ecological Clerk of Works.His involvement in projects at an early stage has allowed him to play an integral role towards the Outline Business Case for large linear developments, including WebTAG, public consultation and stakeholder liaison. Being able to directly liaise with design and engineering teams has allowed him to help influence design to aid biodiversity net-gain and protective species mitigation targets such as providing technical input towards to design of green bridges and underpasses specifically for bats. Henry has a passion for teamwork and business development, with a strong leadership background.
