About Henry Mooney

Henry Mooney serves as Principal Economist and Senior Advisor with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). He has over 20 years of experience, including previously with investment bank Morgan Stanley in London, The International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, and Canadian government, including in dozens of countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. Henry is an experienced people manager, whose responsibilities have included leading regional economic research and flagship publications, serving as mission chief and team leader or team member for IMF and World Bank operations and technical assistance, as well as formulating economic forecasts and reform conditionality for IMF adjustment programs and surveillance. Henry is a widely published author, with dozens of edited volumes and book chapters, papers, reports and journal articles, whose work has been featured in The Economist Magazine, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Columbia University\'s Journal of International Affairs, and dozens of other media outlets. He is a contributing member of the Atlantic Council\'s Financial Inclusion Working Group and Climate Response Task Force, and has served on non-profit boards in several countries. Henry is a member of the Board and Steering Committee for the Fiscal Research Center—a partnership between the IDB, University of Ottawa\'s Institute for Fiscal Studies and Democracy (IFSD), and University of the West Indies. He is a dual Brazilian and Canadian citizen, and holds degrees in economics and finance from Concordia University (BA), The London School of Economics (MSc), The University of London (MPhil/PhD), and Harvard University (MPA). Henry is also an Edward S. Mason Leadership Fellow of Harvard\'s Kennedy School of Government, as well as a proud husband and father of four, who speaks English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
