The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is under the STOP STD’s program—a CDC-funded grant awarded to Metro Health by Cicatelli Associates Inc.(CAI). The purpose of the CAB is to bring together community members, assess the needs of the local community through a community needs assessment (CNA), and use the data and results to create policy changes within our local health department. The goal is to develop a program that addresses these needs, specifically around STI prevention and awareness.

ABOUT HENRY HANKS
Hi! I am a senior honors student at Louisiana State University pursuing a dual degree in Anthropology and Sociology with a minor in Health Sciences. This fall, I will be starting my Master of Public Health at Brown University where I will be concentrating in Qualitative and Community Engaged Methods. I am particularly interested in using mixed methods research to examine how interpersonal relationships, discrimination, criminalization, and stigmatization shape the health outcomes of LGBTQ+ individuals in the South. I am also interested in researching sexual behaviors, love, and relationships. My current advocacy work as a student and community organizer focuses on expanding access to affirming and accessible sexual and reproductive health services and education for communities in the South. Through my research and community engagement, rooted in a deep commitment to equity and justice, I have developed a critical and inquisitive mindset that drives me to develop innovative, evidence-based solutions to address health inequities and utilize research to promote social change.
