ABOUT HENRIETT EVA DINOK
I was born and raised in Hungary, my Roma identity played an important role in my life, and my passion for human rights and education. Prior to joining Scotiabank, I had the privilege to support First Nation students and make education more equal by leading Teach For Canada-Gakinaamaage’s fundraising work. I have spent 15+ years in the non-profit sector, with special focus on partnership building, fundraising and equity-seeking communities. My professional career is deeply rooted in social justice, human rights and philanthropy. I earned a legal degree, a PhD in law and later graduated from the Central European University in Political Science. I did my doctoral research in Edmonton and Budapest, focusing on hate motivated crimes and their social and community impacts. In parallel with my academic work, I have worked and volunteered with several non-governmental organizations across Europe and North America. There has always been fundamentally shared principles in all my endeavours: equity, inclusion and mutual learning. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I seek every opportunity to learn something new.
