ABOUT HENNA MAHMOOD
I previously worked in the civil engineering industry where I completed my degree apprenticeship obtaining a First Class Honours in Civil Engineering. The job role allowed me to use my own initiative to creatively design public infrastructure solutions and I believe the knowledge and skills built up during this time will be invaluable in my route to becoming a secondary mathematics teacher. I have experience in aiming to develop the workplace to be more inclusive as I was on my previous company’s Ethnic Diversity Network for UK & Ireland as a committee member to champion diversity and inclusion. I am also passionate about opportunities for women in STEM including getting involved in the International Women’s Day European Panel as well as being a member of Women’s Engineering Society and the WISE Campaign. I have also participated in the Enginuity 2021 international business management engineering competition to use leadership and management skills in order to determine the successes and failures of a business within key business areas. My role as a school governor assisted in the strategic direction of the school with roles on the Teaching, Learning and Pupil Support Committee and Resources Committee as well as taking responsibility for specific subject areas which include Equality, Wellbeing and Early Reading.
