Quality Improvement LeadSupporting quality improvement across apprenticeship programmes by focusing on the development of tutors, assessors, and delivery teams. My work centres on helping educators strengthen their practice through structured feedback, coaching conversations, and reflective quality processes. Rather than focusing solely on compliance, I aim to use quality assurance activities — such as observations, sampling, and review processes — as opportunities for professional learning and continuous improvement.I work closely with staff to build confidence in areas such as assessment practice, curriculum planning, progress reviews, and learner support, helping them translate their industry expertise into effective teaching and coaching approaches.A key focus of my role is developing a culture where quality improvement is driven by collaboration, reflection, and professional growth, enabling educators to recognise their potential and deliver the best possible outcomes for apprentices.

ABOUT KRISTEN HENDERSON

Apprenticeships and vocational education have the greatest impact when programmes are designed with clarity, quality, and inclusivity — but real improvement happens when quality assurance is used not just to monitor performance, but to develop people. In my work across quality, curriculum, and assessment, I focus on turning quality processes into improvement strategies that build confidence, strengthen practice, and help educators recognise their own potential. I am passionate about supporting Skills Coaches, tutors, and assessors to move beyond compliance and grow into highly effective practitioners who can make a lasting difference to learners.A key part of my approach is using OTLAs, sampling, feedback, and coaching conversations as tools for development rather than judgement. When used well, these processes do more than check standards — they help staff reflect, improve, and become great at what they do. I believe the strongest organisations are those that invest in people, create psychological safety, and make professional development feel purposeful and empowering.Assessment is another area where I combine rigour with growth. My practice draws on a wide range of methods, including observation, professional discussion, portfolio evidence, and RPL, to ensure validity, consistency, and readiness for EPA. Just as importantly, I work to develop the confidence of staff and employers so assessment becomes a trusted, meaningful part of the learner journey.Staff development remains central to my work. I enjoy designing CPD that helps bridge that gap — in a way that feels practical, relevant, and motivating. For me, great CPD is not just about training people to do the job; it is about helping them see what they are capable of becoming. My key areas of expertise include:Quality Improvement – turning QA activity into supportive, evidence-informed improvement practice.Staff CPD and Coaching – developing educators through structured feedback, reflection, and professional learning.Assessment Practice – strengthening fair, valid, reliable, and EPA-ready assessment approaches.Inclusive Practice – championing approaches that support diverse, neurodiverse, and underrepresented learners.I care deeply about helping people grow — not just in competence, but in confidence, identity, and impact.Interests: Apprenticeship and Vocational Education | Curriculum Design | Talent Development | Ofsted & ESFA Compliance | Hospitality Excellence | Digital Learning | Safeguarding & EDI
