About Hemdah Salonimer-Horner

Growing up learning piano, I struggled with sensory processing issues. No one understood how to help me at that time. My mother\'s intuitive support was invaluable. Continuing my piano study into high school, I resolved to become a piano teacher, believing I could help students facing similar challenges. With a BA in Music Education, I began teaching piano, attracting a diverse range of students-some Autistic, and ADHD, as well as with emotional struggles. Recognizing the need for further knowledge, I immersed myself in workshops, books, and trying different approaches, eventually developing a program to empower music teachers of Autistic and ADHD students. I now use my knowledge, my talent for solving problems, and my experience teaching piano to neurodiverse students, to guide music teachers in supporting their Autistic and ADHD students in sensory integration so their students can be regulated (calm and alert), and reach their full potential, accessing higher cognitive skills. By understanding students\' sensory needs and tailoring activities accordingly, I alleviate stress and fatigue for music teachers, fostering an environment where both educators and students thrive. Additionally, as the Director of Hemdah\'s Music Studios LLC for over 38 years, I offer expertise in teaching piano to neurodiverse and neurotypical students and provide strategies for parents and educators to achieve exceptional results while minimizing frustration. My teaching caters to various age groups and aspirations, emphasizing a liberated technique and fostering a solid musical foundation. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and traveling with my husband.    I accompany for choir classes and rehearsals, concerts, solo and ensemble contests and large ensemble contests, and keyboardist in the pit orchestra for the musicals. I lead sectional rehearsals in the choirs, and I lead the choir rehearsals when the choir director is absent.
