The Medical Social Service Officer provides emotional support, counseling, and connects patients with community resources to facilitate their recovery and well-being. They work closely with healthcare teams to address patients\' social and emotional needs, ensuring comprehensive care.1. Conducts patient assessments to identify social and emotional needs.2. Develops and implements plans to address patients\' needs, including counseling and referrals.3. Collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure holistic patient care.4. Provides emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.5. Connects patients with community resources, such as financial assistance, transportation, and support groups.6. Advocates for patients\' rights and interests.7. Maintains accurate records and documentation.8. Participates in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions.1. Master\'s degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field.2. Certification in medical social work (C-SWHC) or equivalent.3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.4. Ability to work with diverse patient populations.5. Strong assessment and problem-solving skills.6. Knowledge of community resources and healthcare systems.MSSOs work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings, often as part of an interdisciplinary team.
