Pipeline Simulation Specialist @Trans Mountain
CA
Part of the 4-member team responsible for the designing, development, testing, tuning and maintenance of CPM (Computational Pipeline Monitoring) system used for Trans Mountain pipeline and Puget Sound pipeline. CPM system monitors the pipelines 24x7 in real-time for leak detection, batch tracking, pig tracking, pressure monitoring, and any hydraulic anomaly recognition. The system comprises of a real-time transient hydraulic leak detection system (SPS), a real-time statistical leak detection system (ATMOS LDS), a product batch tracking system (ATMOS BTS), several Excel-based batch tracking utilities, OPC server systems, operator training systems, etc- Provide on-call 24x7 support to company\'s mission-critical control centre for resolution of CPM system related issues - Carry out testing (simulated leak tests and fluid withdrawal tests) and tuning of leak detection systems on regular basis to achieve optimal leak detection sensitivity - Setup and test the new high fidelity distributed fiber optic sensing system currently being installed on the pipe - Ensure compliance with applicable CSA Z662 and API1130 regulations - Evaluate performance of batch tracking systems on regular basis and address deficiencies as required - Work with software vendor companies to fix software bugs, get new features as needed - Identify and make recommendations for improvements to the CPM systems, pipeline operations and field instruments - Analyze field instrumentation performance and work with field technicians to resolve instrumentation issues - Conduct training sessions for control center operators to provide training on CPM system and alarm analysis, and develop CPM training material - Develop and maintain CPM system manuals, leak detection sensitivity reports, alarm analysis procedures, weekly system check reports, commissioning reports, etc.
