About John Carroll

As a creative services leader, I understand both sides of the practice - “creative” and “services” - and I orchestrate them to run in tandem. Optimizing creative services and guiding marketing initiatives are part of my DNA, which I attribute to having worked in multiple roles for top design firms with Fortune 500 clients. Here are five things about me and how I work:+ I elevate creativity by asking questions that clarify the “why” behind the project, by actively motivating collaborators to do their best work, and by clearing away obstacles.+ I am a systems thinker and view work through an operations lens — can a process be better, faster, smoother, or accomplish more? When I designed, built, and launched an intranet site that provided self-service brand resources to a workforce of over it not only gave employees the brand tools they had been craving, it enabled my team to focus on other high-priority projects.+ Sometimes clients know what they want but not what they need. In those cases, I help them understand how to harness the power of brand by sharing the rationale behind best practices. This helps raise the bar.+ I care deeply about quality. First, I define what high standards look like, then I maintain those standards for myself and my team: not just on time, on budget, and on brand — I aim for excellence.+ In the world of marketing, no one is an island. I seek out and build synergy with people in diverse roles across teams and organizations to ensure collaboration and communication flow unencumbered. You\'ll find close to 30 colleague recommendations at the bottom of my LinkedIn page.On a design-related personal note: I am obsessed with how graphic design evolves through cultural eras. Nowhere can this be seen better than on vinyl record album covers. I collect, curate, and share my favorite cover designs on my Instagram account. I also upcycle them into pop art and home decor items through my Long Play Art Studio Etsy shop. Instagram: https://longplayartstudio.etsy.com

    Long Play Art Studio

    May 2021 — Present

This is my side hobby, a part-time creative endeavor that is flexible enough to enjoy when I\'m working full time. I started this maker\'s studio during the pandemic to combine two of my passions: vintage vinyl record album cover art and home entertaining. I repurpose and collage the vintage album covers into home decor items and pop art. Visit the Long Play Art shop on Etsy to take a peek at my work: https://longplayartstudio.etsy.com
