ABOUT HELLEN XAVIER GOMES DE SOUZA
I am a Afro-Brazilian woman from Perus, on the outskirts of São Paulo, whose life was transformed by education, and who has dedicated her career to expanding those opportunities for others. From leading teams in schools to researching public policy at Stanford to working on inclusive culture at the Inter-American Development Bank, my journey reflects one commitment: leadership becomes transformative when it is grounded in Inclusion, empathy, and purpose. My work lives at the intersection of education, leadership development, and social justice. I have designed and facilitated learning experiences, supported organizational culture initiatives, mentored emerging professionals, and conducted research on violence, governance, and educational policy. Whether in a classroom, a community initiative, or an international institution, my focus is the same: empowering people to grow, lead, and create impact. At the IDB, I support initiatives that promote belonging, and cultural transformation. I contribute to Inclusion strategies, develop communication and learning materials, and collaborate with teams across country offices to advance institutional commitments. I’m driven by helping leaders and teams build trust, navigate complexity, and align purpose with action to reach meaningful impact! If your work centers on people, purpose, and leadership, I would be glad to connect.
