ABOUT HELLEN AZIZ

Hellen Aziz is a research assistant at the Habitat Unit, TU Berlin and she is PhD student at the urban development department in Kassel University in Germany (KAAD scholarship). She is an urban planner, researcher, designer and architect. After obtaining her B.Sc. 2016 in Architecture from Mansoura univeristy in Egypt, she got her M.Sc. degree 2021 from the urban development master program at TU Berlin campus El Gouna (SFSD and KAAD scholarship). Her master thesis title is \"Towards Good Governance for Street Markets in Egypt. Case studies, benchmarks, and recommendations“ grade : Very Good. She has worked as an assistant lecturer in the architecture department at Mansoura University in Egypt (but in a study vacation), and she has worked as a short term student assistant at TU Berlin campus El Gouna, and the Habitat Unit in six research projects, including \"Modern Heritage Future Legacy Iran and Egypt\" with cooperation with Humboldt University of Berlin and \"Vulnerable Urban Areas: Needs and Development Priorities in the Time of Pandemic – Case Study (Tunis, Tunisia)\" with cooperation with Carthage university in Tunis and German Jordanian university, and \"Delta city planning: Global issues, local actions\" with cooperation with Tanta and Mansoura universities in Egypt. Furthermore, she successfully published many academic papers as co-author such as paper “COVID-19 pandemic, between public space and users’ behaviors: case studies from Egypt, Jordan, and Germany” in the 17th issue of \'The Journal of Public Space\', Vol. 6 n. 1 (2021), and \"Not Our Land: an analysis of a socially dysfunctional community in El Fayrouz, Red Sea Region, Egypt” in REAL CORP 2019 Conference. Moreover, she participated in many international workshops and summer schools such as “the refugee shelter rooftop” in Berlin with collaboration with Cambridge University in August 2019 and “the city as commons” in Pavia in Italy in September 2019.Specialties: Urban research, Urban Sociology, urban Planning/ design, urban management and governance.
