Worked for three component/special products suppliers to the elevator industry over a period of 35+ years - learned a lot about elevators, business in general and people. Realizing I have good friends and many connections in the industry, I made the decision to retire from the \"benefits\" of working for a private employer and see what the next phase of life has to offer.Experience includes manager positions for manufacturing companies - formal roles covering sales, marketing, distribution, human resources, operations and quality management, general manager, vice president and president. Product knowledge/skill areas include extensive ongoing involvement in elevator testing (field and installation sites with focus CAT5 [five-year safety testing]); elevator suspension means (steel wire rope focus and belt exposure) along with governor and compensation ropes; elevator construction and installation tools; elevator traveling cables (all currently available designs) and related electrical wiring and components. Along the way I became an active volunteer with NAESA International which led to joining ASME A17 Elevator Safety code committees. Code committee work is a technical and challenging endeavor. Now maintaining QEI (Certified Elevator Inspector status QEI Certificate a member of the Board of Certification for the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities (NAESA), past officer for the Central Region - continuing to help with continuing education and certification. I have written (and edited for others) about a dozen technical and continuing education articles for the elevator industry trade publication - Elevator World.
