ABOUT HELEN EJIGU
As a George W. Jenkins Scholar at Emory University majoring in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology, and a first-generation student, I am deeply passionate about advocating for mental health and unraveling the complexities of the brain. My passion for mental health advocacy stems from my community’s struggles with mental health and the stigmatization surrounding it. My academic and professional aspirations are driven by a commitment to developing innovative healthcare solutions and addressing healthcare disparities, particularly in underserved communities, including my home country, Ethiopia. With a future MD, I aim to specialize in Psychiatry, where I can provide compassionate care and transform lives. Pursuing an MPH alongside my medical education will empower me to foster equity in global healthcare systems and advocate for policies that promote sustainable, inclusive health initiatives. I am dedicated to bridging the gap between science and service, combining my passion for neuroscience, public health, and advocacy to create a lasting impact on mental health care and equity worldwide.
