ABOUT HELENE RYU
As a student at the Columbia School of Social Work, I am excited to be exploring and strengthening my passion for culturally informed and equitable mental healthcare. I work as a Social Work Intern at the MinKwon Center for Community Action, an immigrant rights and services community-based organization for Asian American immigrants in Flushing, NY. Before heading back to school, I worked as a consultant at DataArt, where I drove and supported projects in enterprise-scale behavioral health & crisis technology. While helping facilitate large, globally distributed teams to deliver intuitive and effective technology solutions, I grew a deep appreciation for the critical role that technology plays in healthcare today. Working on the \"back-end\" of the behavioral healthcare system invigorated me to further my education and become a direct care provider.
