ABOUT HELEN JAQUES MED

When my daughter was diagnosed with Autism in 1996, it fuelled my interest in the condition. I qualified as a Teaching Assistant and worked in special and mainstream schools for a number of years with autistic children before going into further education at Stockton Riverside College as Autism Spectrum Disorder Co-Ordinator in 2004.I assessed students for their needs and supported teachers to make reasonable adjustments in the classroom and delivered training. I qualified as a teacher and completed a specialism in English. I went on to do a Bachelor’s Degree in Autism.I joined MAIN Charity to deliver training in Autism in 2011 when I went on to do my Master’s Degree in Autism. I became charity manager in 2015 and am proud to say I headed up the successful team which saw MAIN’s turnover quadrupole in that time, whilst also improving service offering and was instrumental in securing funding for and in the relocation to its own premises in 2020.In 2020 I began a part-time role working for The Leaning Curve Group as an Associate Tutor marking on-line course work for level 2 and 3 courses in education, social care and SEND. This flexible role fits nicely into my lifestyle and the valuable training LCG provides ensures my skills are up to date.In February 2022 I joined the highly successful Daisy Chain Project Charity returning to my true passion of training as Senior Training Manager, helping educate professionals in the social, educational and corporate sectors, which in the long term will impact positively on the lives of families affected by autism and neurodiversity - my most fulfilling and rewarding position to date.In 2025 I began working for Outwood Academy as an exam invigilator, another part-time role which fits into my time and ensures my education skills and knowledge are kept up to date.
