ABOUT HELEN COLLINS

I have been working at the University of Dundee for 21 years, initially as a Sports Science Officer and now as an Exercise Scientist, Lecturer, and Strength and Conditioning Coach. I manage our PARE (Physical Activity Research & Education) Unit and Strength Hub. My career journey has led me to a fulfilling combination of academic and applied work in a field I am passionate about. I am a CASES Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist, CASES Fellow, and also a UKSCA Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach… Awarded S&C Coach of the year for Health and Wellbeing in 2022. My research area is the use of resistance training as an intervention strategy to improve physical activity levels and health of youth, with a particular focus on those with overweight/obesity and/or inactive youth. I also have experience of delivering strength training to older adults.
