ABOUT HIU YAN HEIDI LAM
Hi! I am a graduate student in the Communication Disorders (ComD) program at Brigham Young University, graduating in Spring 2027, and a student clinician at the BYU Speech and Language Clinic. I am especially interested in working with adults with neurogenic communication and cognitive disorders, including aphasia following stroke and cognitive-communication impairments related to TBI.As a student clinician, I have provided assessment and treatment services to both pediatric and adult clients with a range of speech, language, fluency, motor speech, and cognitive-communication needs. I value evidence-based practice and enjoy helping clients improve functional communication in their daily lives.I also have research experience in the Bailey Aphasia Lab, where I worked on a project exploring the use of ChatGPT as an AAC support tool for individuals with aphasia. This experience strengthened my interest in combining technology with clinical practice to support communication.Having lived and studied in Hong Kong, Canada, and the United States, I bring a multicultural perspective to my work. I hope to become a trilingual medical speech-language pathologist serving culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
