I admit it. I like inspirational quotes. The current quote on the whiteboard in one of my workplaces says: You either build the future or live in someone else’s. As I reflect on my 30+ year career, each step and different opportunity in some way has been about preparing for the future: The future of work, of workforce, and workplace. I’ve helped address talent migration and cultural integration challenges and led early implementation of a new performance management system, next generation workplace design and future focused innovation spaces that uses real-time data and continuous engagement to improve productivity and performance. A highlight of my career has been leading Deloitte University (DU), our cultural home (2017 to 2021), and its expansion (2021-present). And through it all, I always come back to the basics. Doing work I love with people I admire. Taking calculated risks. Failing forward. Challenging myself and never stopped learning. Trusting people and empowering myself and others. Seeking purposeful collaboration that builds on diverse strengths, takes bold steps, and reaches for extraordinary outcomes. I’ve dedicated my career to building a better future. One that my children and generations to come will live in. And it’s my hope that the groundwork that my generation has laid will help them build their own meaningful and purposeful futures - at work, at home, and in their communities.
