About Heidi McGannon
I am an Art History and Political Science major at Davidson College, driven by creativity and commitment to social change. Through my robust experience in the arts and the nonprofit sector alike, I have honed a skillset in event planning, communications, development, and graphic design. I first became passionate about curatorial work through my role at Heather Gaudio Fine Art, where I assisted with exhibition openings. More recently, at the Van Every/Smith Galleries, I helped curate an exhibition exploring the role of women historically, as well as the concept of binaries. At the Galleries, I also serve as Communications Lead for our collaboration with Bloomberg Connects. I have written material, created audio content, and helped the gallery team develop ideas for how to best market the application. I also assist with programming, conduct condition reports, and help with installations. Beyond the gallery, I gained significant event planning experience at the Brennan Center for Justice. I worked alongside the Head of Special Events to execute internal events for a staff of nearly two hundred and welcome high-profile guests. I also assisted with public-facing events, from creating runs of show, to arranging event spaces, to writing scripts for panels. Finally, at Davidson, I served as Head of the Events Committee, as well as Graphics Chair, for the Center for Political Engagement. I produced events and created engaging visual media to promote attendance and student engagement. Similarly, as the Publicity Chair for Warner Hall Eating House, I share creative content with nearly two thousand followers. I have also worked on donor outreach and fundraising as part of Warner Hall’s Solicitations Committee. I am eager to bring my skills in communications, event planning, and design to roles in the art world and nonprofit sector, while continuing to grow my interest in curatorial practice.
